  • Fresh ginger, grated, to taste Enhances overall flavor.
  • Fresh garlic, minced, to taste Provides aromatic contrast.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Generously season the beef with salt and pepper, ensuring every surface is well-coated.
  • Heat a pan over high heat and add the vegetable oil.
  • Once the pan is hot, carefully place the seasoned beef in it and sear for about 1-2 minutes on each side.
  • Remove the beef from the pan and let it rest on a cutting board for about 10 minutes.

Sauce Preparation

  • While the beef rests, mix together the sake, rice vinegar, soy sauce, and water in a bowl.
  • Add lemon or lime juice, grated ginger, and minced garlic to taste and stir well to combine.

Serving

  • Once the beef has rested, slice it thinly at an angle of around 45 degrees.
  • Arrange the sliced beef on a plate, drizzle the sauce over the top, and add the garnishes.

Notes

Beef Tataki can also be served cold. Choose a well-marbled beef for the best flavor and texture. Allow the beef to rest for juicy results.
