Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a large pot, melt butter over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  • Add the chopped onion, garlic, carrots, and peas to the pot. Stir and cook for about 5 minutes, or until the onions become translucent and the carrots start to soften.
  • Sprinkle flour over the mixture and stir to coat. Gradually add beef broth, stirring to combine.
  • Allow the soup to come to a gentle simmer and cook for 10 minutes, allowing it to thicken slightly.
  • Stir in the heavy cream and season with salt, pepper, thyme, and rosemary.
  • Lower the heat and let it simmer.

Dumplings

  • In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt to create the dumpling mixture.
  • Add the milk and melted butter, stirring until a dough forms.
  • Drop spoonfuls of the dumpling dough into the soup. Cover and let them steam for 10-12 minutes until they puff up and are cooked through.

Serving

  • Ladle the soup into bowls and top with fresh herbs for garnish. Serve with fluffy dinner rolls or buns on the side.
