Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Slice each dinner roll in half, creating a pocket without cutting all the way through.

Cooking

  • Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the cooked ground meat, stirring until browned and fully cooked. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.
  • Stuff each roll with the meat filling and sautéed onions if using, topping with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  • Close the rolls and brush the tops with egg wash.
  • Place the rolls on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown and cheese is melted and bubbling.
  • Allow them to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

These buns are great as appetizers, snacks, or part of a meal. Serve with dipping sauces for added flavor. Allow cooling before serving as the filling can be very hot.
