Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb steak (flank or sirloin), sliced thin For tender texture.
  • 12 oz pasta (penne or rotini) Holds onto the sauce well.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil For cooking and flavor.
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced Adds sweetness and depth.
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce Provides a smoky, sweet backdrop.
  • 2 tablespoons honey Brings natural sweetness.
  • 1/2 cup beef broth Enhances the meaty flavor.
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream Creates a rich, creamy sauce.
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder For aromatic warmth.
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika Adds depth.
  • Salt and pepper to taste To ensure balanced flavors.
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional) For garnish, adds color and freshness.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Begin by boiling a large pot of salted water. Add 12 oz of your chosen pasta, either penne or rotini, and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, retaining some starchy water.
  • In a large skillet, warm 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  • Add the thinly sliced 1 lb of steak to the skillet and sear for about 3-4 minutes until browned on all sides. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add the thinly sliced large onion and cook for 4-5 minutes. Stir occasionally until the onions are softened and caramelized.
  • Drizzle 1/2 cup of BBQ sauce and 2 tablespoons of honey over the onions. Stir to combine.
  • Slowly pour in 1/2 cup of beef broth followed by 1/2 cup of heavy cream, stirring well. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  • Return the cooked steak and pasta back into the skillet with the creamy BBQ sauce. Toss together gently, ensuring the pasta is coated. Season with garlic powder, smoked paprika, and salt and pepper to taste.
  • Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

Opt for high-quality steak for tenderness and season adequately. Make sure all ingredients are ready before starting to streamline cooking.
