  • 1 lb ground beef Make sure it's fresh for best flavor.
  • 1 cup jasmine rice Rinse until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil For sautéing.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce Substitute with soy sauce if unavailable.
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves For garnish.
  • 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped For garnish.
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped For garnish.
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil For additional flavor.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Adjust according to preference.

Preparation

  • Cook the jasmine rice according to package instructions and set aside.
  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.

Cooking

  • Sauté minced garlic and onion until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Add ground beef and cook until browned; break it up with a spatula.
  • Stir in chopped red chili pepper and cook for another 1-2 minutes.
  • Add soy sauce, fish sauce, and lime juice; mix well.
  • Let it simmer for 3-4 minutes.
  • Drizzle sesame oil over the mixture, then add the cooked rice and mix well.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Plate and garnish with fresh basil, cilantro, and green onions.

Notes
